GM grasses
GM creeping bentgrass resistant to the weedkiller glyphosate (brandname RoundUp) caused major problems in the USA in 2002, when it spread and crossed with other grass, creating feral glyphosate-resistant plants.
Other experimental GM grasses have been developed in the USA.
In 2017, Brazil became the second country, after Indonesia, to approve the commercial cultivation of GM sugarcane, genetically engineered to resist the sugarcane borer.
